Yes, you can play Roblox on Steam Deck. But here's the catch - you can't just download it from Steam like other games. Roblox doesn't officially support Linux (which Steam Deck runs on).
So what do you do?
You've got three main options:
- Sober (Most popular right now):
- Downloads Android version of Roblox
- Works around Hyperion's Linux block
- Free and pretty stable
- Windows Installation:
- Install Windows on your Steam Deck
- Play Roblox like on any PC
- Takes up lots of storage though
- Waydroid:
- Another Android emulator
- More technical to set up
- Works if Sober fails
I've tried all three. Sober wins for me.
Installing it takes maybe 10 minutes. You download Sober from their GitHub, run a few commands in desktop mode, and boom - Roblox works.
Performance? Honestly pretty good. I get 50-60 FPS in most games. Some heavy games drop to 30-40. Battery lasts about 2-3 hours playing Roblox.
The controls feel weird at first. But Steam Deck's touchpads help a lot. You can map buttons however you want.
One annoying thing - updates break stuff sometimes. When Roblox updates, Sober might need fixing. Usually takes a day or two.
And yeah, this whole mess exists because Roblox actively blocks Linux. They say it's for anti-cheat. Whatever.
If you're wondering about other consoles - you can play Roblox on PS5 officially. Steam Deck? We need workarounds.
Method | Difficulty | Performance |
---|---|---|
Sober | Easy | Good |
Windows | Medium | Best |
Waydroid | Hard | Okay |
Just don't expect voice chat to work. That's still broken.
